There's much to consider when purchasing a marker plotter. Price and performance are the most obvious issues. But many other factors also determine how well a particular model will fit your needs:

  • Do you need an inkjet or would a pen plotter better fit your operation?
     

  • What are the long-term maintenance and operating costs?
     

  • How well does the machine perform in humid/hot/cold/dusty/hostile conditions?
     

  • How much average downtime is required to replenish ink or replace a head?
     

  •  How much downtime is required to service the machine?
     

  • Can you service the plotter in-house or is a technician required?
     

  • Does the manufacturer/dealer require you to buy a service agreement?
     

  • What technical support resources are available to you? When (days & times)?
     

  • Does the vendor charge for technical support?
     

  • Are markers legible or is line quality so poor you risk high waste?
